These photograph fabric sachets are the perfect handmade gift for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day!
Hi everybody! It’s Ashlee from My So Called Crafty Life, and today I am here to share a fun custom fabric diy with you guys!
Fabric sachets filled with lavender are wonderful to tuck in a dresser drawer or stick in a closet to make your clothes smell lovely! These little sachets are made with printed photo fabric and are really easy to make!
Here’s What You Need:
- Photo Fabric from Spoonflower ( or Printable Fabric Sheets and a printer)
- Sewing Machine and Thread
- Hand Sewing Needle and Thread
- Ruler and Scissors
- Dried Lavender
The first thing you need to do is make your fabric. I use Spoonflower to print my fabric.
I think they have a great selection of fabric and the quality is awesome! An alternative is to buy a pack of the printable fabric sheets you can find at the fabric or craft store and print your own with your printer.
Edit your photos to all be the same size. Mine were 5×7.
I added the cute text elements and frames in Pic Monkey.
Create a canvas the size of the fabric you are going to order from spoonflower or print from the printer. Then drop the photos on that canvas and space them out so there is a good amount of white space around each.
Save your canvas and then either print it from your printer according to the package directions or upload your design to spoonflower and have it printed.
Once you have your printed fabric, cut out the photos with a half inch seam allowance all the way around, so if your photos are 5×7, then your cut out fabric will be 6×8.
Now you are ready to sew.
Place two fabric photos right sides together and pin. Stitch all the way around your fabrics leaving a space in the bottom that is a couple inches for turning and filling.
Turn your fabric right side out through the opening. Then fill the pouch with your lavender.
To finish, hand stitch the opening closed with your hand sewing needle and thread.
These fabric sachets are really fun and I think they are sweet.
I stuck a couple in my shirt drawer and every time I go to grab a top, I see the photos of my hubby and I.
Dried lavender smells amazing too!
I think these would be fabulous gifts for Valentine’s Day for anyone. This would also be a good diy to remember around Mother’s Day for mom as well.
These little sachets are not only easy to make and fun but you can whip a small batch of them in under an hour! I hope you’ll give them a try sometime! I’ll be back soon with more DIY fun. Until then…
