You know what is awesome?
That’s right, smokey bacon, bright lettuce, and sweet tomatoes on top of hot and crunchy tater tots. Of course the whole thing is brought together by adding tangy sour cream mixed with some Italian seasoning and melted cheese. BOOM!
Did I just blow your mindhole? I know I did.
Because these BLT Tots are just that good.
And the best part is, the kids love to both help make and eat them.
You are totally going to win your Big Game party with these ultimate BLT Tater Tots!
Start by baking a bag of tater tots according to the directions on the package. We want to get these babies nice and crispy!
Speaking of crispy, while the tots are getting as tan as the cast from Jersey Shore, it is time to cook your bacon. Personally I use fakin’ because I don’t eat pork, but for those of you who like to indulge, go ahead and crisp up between six and eight bacon strips. You want to end up with around ¼- ⅓ cup of crumbled bacon or fakin’.
You might as well go ahead and cook up a few extra slices because you know once that enticing bacon smell wafts through the house your kitchen is going to look like a hungry shark tank being fed with chum!
While fending off your rapacious family with extra bacon strips, mix together the dry Italian dressing mix with 1 cup of Daisy Sour Cream and 3 tablespoons of milk. You want the concoction to be easy to pour on top of the tots, but not too thin. Nobody wants soggy potatoes!
I always keep a container of Daisy Sour Cream in my fridge because it is perfect for adding small amounts of sour cream to my regular weeknight dinners like tacos and it keeps from getting gross by double dipping spoons. Ew!
If ketchup and mustard come in squeezable containers, why not sour cream?
Once the tots are ready, spoon the Italian sour cream mixture over them. Cover the whole thing with shredded cheddar cheese and sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top. Be sure not to taste them because you won’t be able to stop yourself from devouring the entire thing right then and there!
You have been warned.
Throw them back in the oven for five minutes to melt the cheese and then remove.
Carefully pour the creamy bacon tots into the serving dish and embellish with chopped tomatoes and lettuce.
Place on your coffee table and swiftly get out of the way because there is about to be some tackling going on as everyone makes a dash to gorge themselves on these epic BLT tater tots!
