It seems as if Pantone is having a difficult time only picking one color of 2016, so this year they chose two.
Unfortunately I am not sure if I am loving it.
The actual two shades picked, rose quartz and serenity are essentially baby pink and baby blue. Not chic.
But if you use the wider interpretation of a light pink and a grayish blue, well then we’ve got something!
Take the picture seen above. I think it is absolutely stunning! But technically that tree isn’t “serenity”, it is actually more of a gray. But that’s ok! Color is so subjective that I think the idea behind the pink and blue is better than the actual swatches Pantone chose.
For example, how glamorous is this outfit? I adore the combination of the whimsical bear sweater with the lightness of the formal skirt. Reminds me of the modern version of when Sharon Stone wore a Gap tee shirt on the red carpet.
When Pantone chose two colors, that didn’t mean they had to always be shown together. Here is a charming array of soft pink garments that can easily be worn together.
Can I just say I need those shoes in my life!
While I’m at it I might as well get that dress and coat because they are all so gorgeous!
I will admit, I think I am more partial to the pink because it happens to look great with my skin tone. But if blue is more to your liking, it will be quite prevalent in fashion for the next few years.
Here is a Classic Preppy way to wear “Serenity”.
So what do you think?
Do you like Pantone’s choices for the color(s) of 2016?
Think you will be purchasing a few of these pastel hues in the future, or are you going to leave this trend behind?
