Ive always wondered what women in the mid century made for dinner and if was easier or more difficult than what I usually make.
So for this episode of Making It Modern I decided to try a dish called Cherry Crown Chicken. I love cherries and thought the main components of the cherries with fried chicken and mashed potatoes sounded pretty delish! Plus I got to use those funny paper florishes that are usually seen on the ends of a rack of lamb.
Side note: I spent an hour driving from store to store trying to find those things! I ended up purchasing them from Sur La Table.
I am pleased to say the dinner was really good, but I am not a huge fan of frying chicken. So to make the dish modern, I thought I would keep the cherries and the chicken and turn it into a roasted chicken breast with cherry barbecue sauce. It ended up becoming one of my new favorite meals to serve for both a regular weeknight and when friends come over to dinner.
