We all carry tension in different ways.
Tension caused by stress and anxiety that mostly are found in different muscles in the body including our shoulders and neck, but one area that is easy to forget about is our faces!
We’ve all heard the term or were told many times as a child to “turn that frown upside down” or it will get stuck that way. As an adult I have realized how true that statement is.
The problem with holding tension in the face is that we do it without thinking about it.
Why don’t you experiment with being more mindful about relaxing your face throughout the day? Take a deep breath through your nose and feel your face expand and as you exhale through your mouth and allow your face muscles to fall in to place. Feel the tension evaporate as you smooth out your contracted muscles. Let yourself be mindful of the moment and then continue on with your day.
