If there is one thing I have learned from cooking vintage food, its the element of surprise and today’s episode of Making It Modern is full of it!
I knew meatloaf was going to figure heavily in vintage food, so I went through some of my cookbooks and found a recipe where they hide an egg in the middle of the loaf. How fun is that?
In order to “make it modern” I decided to keep the surprise egg, but instead of the traditional flavors of meat and ketchup, I spiced things up with a Thai inspired turkey loaf.
So which do you think tasted better, the vintage recipe or the modern one?
Actually, I found they were both delicious!
As a fan of meatloaf I think each one has a fantastic flavor profile and would be welcomed if you decided to make it for your family.
