Inspiration can come from some of the most unexpected places. For me, it usually appears after falling deep, deep, deep down the rabbit hole known as the internet.
As I was meandering my way from link to link, seemingly with no rhyme or reason, I stumbled upon a blog that has become one that inspires me day after day. The author of this eponymous blog, Elise Blaha Cripe, is a woman who is unafraid of sharing the essence of herself online. After starting her blog in 2005, Elise has been disseminating her hopes, dreams, goals and ambitions, with her readers, who number in the thousands!
Elise often refers to herself as a “maker”. This is a woman who eat, sleeps, and breaths creativity so the term maker is a bit of an understatement. I found Elise just after she announced her annual “birthday project” when she turned 29. Over the course of one year she produced and sold 12 handmade project in a series of either 29 or 290, all while raising her first born daughter, Ellerie. This year she will be making 30 DIY projects and giving them (or a portion of the proceeds) away. Lets just say this gal likes to stay busy!
Elise is not only a maker, she is also a master of getting things done! Many of her blog posts are dedicated to describing how she structures her time and what tools she uses to stay organized. After trying a plethora of daily planners, none of which suited all of Elise’s needs, Ms. Cripe has come up with her own “Get To Work Book“that debuted just a few short weeks ago.
As someone who is always looking for a better way to stay organized, I immediately purchased this Get To Work Book and needless to say, I am thrilled with the results. My only complaint is that it doesn’t start until July so I have to wait a full month before I can really dig into it and get to work!
I figured Elise was a perfect example of someone who is both incredibly busy and a maven of simplification. So I tracked her down and managed to score an interview with this doyenne of organizing a creative life. Here is a little peek into what makes Elise tick.
