Why not celebrate Pi Day by baking a pie! Here are five different pie ideas and a recipe for the perfect crust.
Saturday is Pi Day!
March 14th is officially Pi Day because the date is 3.14, the beginning of this magical number. I told you Americans will use any excuse to celebrate, so why not have a party because the date is similar to a mathematical equation?
And what better way to celebrate Pi day than with pie? I happen to adore pie in all forms and have written about a few of my favorites here on The Glamorous Housewife. I thought they might inspire you to bake your own pie to observe this incredibly important day.
This old fashioned lemon meringue pie is a perfect way to use the meyer lemons that have just become available in stores!
Speaking of meringue, why not try this grapefruit meringue pie? It is a bit zestier than the typical lemon meringue, but just as delicious!
The traditional apple pie is elevated with the addition of spices and sour cream to create Chai Apple Pie. If you like chai tea you will love this pie!
Sometimes simplest is best, which is exactly what you get with this buttermilk chess pie. This is the perfect vehicle for any perfectly ripe fruit including strawberries, raspberries, or mangos.
Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits, mainly because here in Southern California they are one of the first spring fruits to become available. I know when strawberries hit the markets then sunshine and warm weather aren’t far behind. This ultimate strawberry pie is super easy to make and even better to eat.
Last year I attempted to finally learn how to make the perfect pie crust. It isn’t nearly as difficult as it might seem, but it does take practice to figure out how the weather affects your crust. Here is one type of crust and this post has the crust recipe and directions that I use most often. Both are wonderful ways to learn how to make a pie crust.
And there you have it! Six different ways to celebrate Pi day! If you love pie as much as I do, let me know which flavor is your favorite and if you have the time, I would love to see your favorite recipe!
