Celebrating Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you have to spend big bucks on a fancy new outfit. Why not add a heart detail to a cardigan you thrifted or you already own?
This week, I thrifted a few basic tops and cardigans. I always look for simple cardigans because you can do so much to them to make them unique. Today, I’ll show you how to make a quick and easy cardigan for Valentine’s day.
Cut a heart shape out of your felt and pin it wherever you like. I pinned mine at a slight angle near the collar
Stitch all around the edge of the heart in matching thread.
Beginning at the lower side seam, opposite the heart, start a running stitch, going diagonally in the direction of the heart. I gave mine a loop
When you get to the edge of this side of the cardigan, tie off your thread
Begin a new running stitch on the other side of the cardigan front, matching up with the other side.
When you reach the heart, stitch through, having the outside stitches appear as the arrow shaft.
Finish off with contrasting arrow head and fletchings.
