I’ve sort of climbed back on the fashion wagon!
When I first started The Glamorous Housewife it was because I was searching for others like myself who loved vintage, and retro styled clothing. I didn’t have any friends that were as interested in vintage as I was and thought it might be fun to blog about fashion and transitioning from a working mom into a homemaker.
I am a big believer in dressing up every day, and there are a few reasons for this. First of all, being a homemaker is a job, and as such I think one should dress “professionally”. That isn’t to say you have to wear a suit while doing the dishes, but one shouldn’t use the excuse of staying home all day as a way to never get out of pajamas (unless you are sick or have a baby under a year). Secondly I think one should have enough pride in one’s self to put on a nice outfit as a way to express one’s creativity. I happen to adore fashion and just because I am a mom doesn’t mean I should have to be in sweatpants all day. Finally, wearing cute clothing makes me feel good about myself and I like that! I want to look and feel beautiful, so dressing up and being creative helps me achieve this goal.
I used to have more fashion posts, but once Instagram came on the scene I sort of moved the daily fashion posts over there. If you are interested in my daily outfits, as well as seeing an insider’s look into my life, come follow me! You can also sign up for a Like To Know It newsletter which will send you the affiliate links to where I purchased my clothing. I will also be posting my outfits here with affiliate links as well, so either way you can see where I get most of my clothing! Yay!
One of the reason’s I had stopped posting my daily outfits is because I am a bit befuddled when it comes to winter clothing. I live in Los Angeles and the weather is pretty mild, so I kind of feel like most of what I wear isn’t relevant to the vast majority of my readers. But then again, it isn’t like you are always outside in the freezing cold! So consider these outfits as a suggestion on indoor living and then change for when you have to venture out into the snow.
Another reason I don’t always post my outfits is because a lot of my clothing is old! The skirt is from last winter and the sweater is from two winter’s ago (I think). So the links are to “similar” items you can buy right now.
These pants are my new favorites. They are as comfortable as sweat pants but with a chicer look. The top has two large elastic bands to hold your tummy in, which is fantastic! The sweater is old, but the shirt is new. The flats are my go-to shoe right now because they are super comfortable, but offer zero support, so if you need firm arches, these aren’t the shoes for you.
Skirts are a large part of my wardrobe, though not always practical for winter. I love this color combination of dusty pink with navy blue. So chic!
I have mentioned my love for the brand Emily & Fin many times here on The Glamorous Housewife, and this is an example of one of their newer designs.
I happened to go out on the town a few times in the past two weeks, so here are two more glammed up outfits! The blouse from the above outfit was purchased on sale from Kate Spade. She usually has great markdowns on her stuff, including the linked sweater that I chose instead of the blouse. Obviously it looks nothing like the blouse, but I think it would look amazing with those pants and I am seriously considering purchasing it and wanted to share it with my gals!
I wanted to mention that I purchased those shoes a few years ago on eBay. They are Prada and I got them for like $50 because they had been gently used. I adore them and wear them quite often when I am dressing up. So if you are looking to buy designer at a lower cost, try eBay. I swear they have some amazing deals!
Here is another outfit made out of items I have had for a long while. The dress was from Anthropologie and you saw it first last year when I wore it for this post. I found a similarly cut dress, which I linked above, but obviously the colors are different.
The coat and the shoes are another example of designer eBay shopping. I don’t recall the design of the coat, but I got it for a steal and it is very 1960s mod. The shoes are Prada.
If you would like to see more of my daily outfits, I have them all sorted out on this page. It is fun to see how my style has both changed and stayed the same over the past five years!
