Last week on May 1st I started Pinterest month. I am an avid pinner, and I love everything about Pinterest, except for one thing: I seem to spend more time pinning than actually doing! So for the month of May I will be bringing you inspiration and projects from my Pinterest boards so I can #StopPinningStartDoing!
One of my favorite boards is titled “Style Inspiration“. Goodness knows there are hundreds, if not thousands of beautiful images of women wearing clothing that can be so incredibly inspiring. Today I have picked two of my favorite pictures and I put together outfits based on their fashion creativity. The first can be seen above. I just adore the rose floral print with a little belt and matching necklace combined with a purple sweater. As someone who is more “matchy-matchy”, I find it difficult to break out and put together three seemingly strange colors together. And yet this woman did it perfectly! Each element of this outfit is perfectly proportioned with the rest creating a soothing harmony for the eye. Adore!
I couldn’t find the exact dress in the picture, but I did find this lovely frock with similar elements. (HERE)
I was lucky enough to find a very similar belt, especially in color. (HERE)
And isn’t this necklace perfect? It isn’t exactly the same, but it has a very similar feeling. I actually like this one better! (HERE)
To complete the look, I think this cardigan in fuchsia is perfection (HERE). Ok, I know it ends up being more coordinated than the inspirational picture, but a leopard can’t easily change its spots. Stiill, the whole ensemble is gorgeous.
Next I picked this outfit worn by Dita Von Teese. As a longtime admirer of her style, when I am not sure what to wear I think to myself, “what would Dita do?”. I am also a fan of a midi skirt with a simple tee and vintage purse with flats. I would consider it to be one of my uniforms.
I started by finding a purse with embroidery on it like Dita’s. Obviously this one (HERE) has entirely different colors, but the casual feel is the same. When you are inspired by a look that doesn’t mean you have to copy it. You can break down the different elements and then turn it into your own style.
I thought it would be fun to play up the green in the leaves by wearing a similarly colored skirt. (HERE)
Finish off the outfit with a sunny pair of flats (HERE). I truly believe this is a perfect glamorous housewife outfit. It is comfortable to wear around the house, looks chic, and is appropriate for just about any occasion you will have in your day-to-day life.
