I am way late on the royal Australian tour coverage. Like a month late. Oh sure, I keep abreast of what Kate is wearing because I think her style is very classy, but I am not what one would call a “royal watcher”. But this white lace dress has been percolating in the back of my mind because I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not. Let me take that back. I adore the dress on her, and I think it was perfect for the occasion, but a white dress? Not very practical.
However, as time has progressed, I have decided I really like this look. It is clean, classic, and timelessly modern. I mean look at it! I believe you could wear that dress for ten years and it would never be perceived as dated. That exact dress isn’t available until June, and we all know it is going to seel out quickly. But I found a dozen other dresses that have a similar feel at all different price points. So if you are in the market for a classy white dress, here are your choices:
Of all the dresses in the round-up, I thought this one was the most similar. It is white, has lace, and has sleeves. Plus it has a modern timelessness about it. My only concern is the length. But I figure if it is mid thigh on the model, is will hit me around the knee. (HERE).
This dress was a close second. The reason I didn’t pick it for number 1 is due to the fact it is a party dress. I think Kate’s dress can be dressed up or down, but this one would only be appropriate in a celebratory setting. (HERE)
I love this dress because it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, but because it doesn’t have sleeves, it couldn’t be number one or two. With that said, this might be my favorite of all the dresses. (HERE)
Think curvy girls can’t wear white? Think again! This one has a lovely fit and flair shape, plus it hits just above the waist which can be slimming on many figures. (HERE)
At $37, this is by far the least expense of all of the choices. I bought a similar dress last year and loved it but unfortunately it got a stain, which is my biggest issue with the white- so hard to keep clean! (HERE)
Here is another pretty choice. I love a shirtdress, and I have this cut in pink and in a cream and blue pattern. It is lovely in all white. (HERE)
A simple white eyelet dress. Perfect for any wardrobe. (HERE)
If you feel like you really must have Kate’s dress, here is a very similar one by the same designer. I quite like it because the plunging neckline has a bit of va-va-voom. (HERE)
So what do you think about white dresses? Do you have one hanging in your closet? Are you thinking of adding one to your wardrobe this year?
