I have mentioned time and again that I am an inherently a messy person.
Ok, but make sure you are sitting down.
This, my darlings, is what I called my “main” makeup drawer. It is where I kept the makeup I wore everyday. Totally gross. But still not as bad as my overflow drawer.
So not cute. Basically I would just throw whatever I decided I didn’t like or didn’t use very often into this drawer. You can see old makeup, shriveled fake eyelashes, makeup packages that have dried up years ago, and even a random engagement picture of my husband and I. How did that get in there?
Obviously this was due for a organizational makeover. I really needed to get to organizing makeup.
So off I went to my local Container Store where I purchased some shallow dishes that would fit neatly in the drawers. I had a basic idea of how I wanted to group my makeup, so I bought the sizes of containers I thought would be the best fit for my needs. Then I took everything out of the drawers, wiped them down, threw away every single makeup item I hadn’t used in the past 6th months, then reorganized the drawers. Want to see the finished result?
BOOM! Now that is what I call organized! From the bottom left you have my foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, and brow shadow that wear nearly every single day. To the right of that you have my eyeliner, tweezers, eyelash curler, and mascara. Then you have the lipsticks I wear everyday. I am going to post a video tomorrow on my new favorites, so be sure to look out for that. Above it all are items I use when I need extra help like when I dress up fancy or I am shooting a video.
This is the other drawer. I got rid of a ton of gross old makeup and now I just have things I use occasionally. The large container on the left has all of the lipstick I tried but don’t love, but I feel like I can’t get rid of it yet. It also has some overstock of the lipstick I wear all the time. I don’t want to run out! Next comes my regular lipsticks. I don’t wear them very often but they were expensive and there is no reason to throw them away. Same can be said for the eye shadows you see grouped into a few separate containers. It is sooooo much better than what I had before!
Since my drawers were so fancy I decided I might as well straighten up my battlestation top as well.
I don’t always have a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, but I do keep all of my brushes in that glass container. I use the little stand mirror to put on my makeup.
Next to that I have a mirrored dish with some pretty containers. I don’t really need them, but I think they look so pretty and feminine.
There you have my makeup drawer organization. Now it is time to move on to the drawers around my sink because they are my next disaster!
So do you kittens keep a neat makeup area, or are you disorganized like me? If you are proud of your battlestation, take a pic and put it up on your Instagram. Tag it #battlestation so we can all see it. I can’t wait to see where you all put on your face in the morning.
