When we built our house a few years ago, according to city code we had to have certain plants in the front yard. Commonly known as xeriscape, the plants had to be drought tolerant because Los Angeles is essentially a desert. We weren’t allowed to move in until the yard was planted, so I just said yes to whatever the original garden designer said and didn’t give it much thought. Now that it has been three years, we know what does and doesn’t work in our tiny garden, so it was time to redesign.
I will be doing more posts on the garden as it gets planted, but until then I wanted to show you ladies some of my whimsical garden inspiration. I adore lots of knick-nacks in the yard because it looks colorful and kitschy. I separated the difference influences into six categories and I am hoping to have at least one of each represented in my new front yard.
