I’ve been taking recently about celebrating yourself by finding your passions in life and then making sure your choices align with your passions. One of my passions is photography. Though I am an amateur at best, I still really like finding simple moments and capturing them. My dad is a photographer, but I never really enjoyed it until I was forced to take my own pictures for my now defunct boy’s clothing company. It saved an incredible amount of money to take media pictures myself and then the advent of the camera phone happened, then Instagram, and now I take pictures all the time! It is fun to find a new passion, even when you are as old as I am. I suppose that is what keeps one young at heart.
A few weeks ago I decided to make a memory book using my Instagram photos from last year. I thought it would be a fun little project that saved my photos in print, just in case I lose them on my computer.
At first I was going to make it a “family” album, but I decided to make it just for myself. Of course my family is well represented amongst the pages, but I also made sure to add some of my favorite Instagram shots.
The book took me about 1.5 hours to put together. It is extremely simple and has very few words in it. Though I write all day long, sometimes I just want the images to be the story.
If you have an artistic passion, I want to remind you that it is ok to celebrate it! You should surround yourself with your art, be proud of it, brag a little! We are always giving to others, let us not forget to give back to ourselves.
