I don’t know about you, but I am kinda tired of the winter. I just don’t like being cold. I much prefer light dresses, sandals, and the smell of freshly cut grass to heavy coats, wool mittens, and catching snow on my tongue. What can I say, I am a true summer girl. If you are like me and counting down the days until spring, then you will appreciate this little post on how to beat the winter blahs.
This is a picture of a few orchids I have in my kitchen nook. I think it is incredibly important to have growing plants in your winter home. They are beautiful reminders of what is to come in a few months.
What about painting your nails a cherry color? You should also get a pedicure even if nobody sees your feet. Taking a moment to make yourself pretty is time well spent.
Buy a new bath product and take a long hot soak.
Warm up a bowl of nuts, pour yourself a glass of champagne and pretend you are on first class flying to somewhere fabulous and tropical.
Now is the perfect time to learn a new craft. I am working on my needlepoint skills.
Of course you can always read a good book by the fire. Even if you long for spring you can still enjoy the pleasures of winter.
Right now is a terrible time to buy clothing because the sale stuff seems picked through and the new spring clothing is too light to wear right now. Why not buy yourself a new necklace that can be worn year round?
Pop some popcorn and snuggle with your kids while watching a movie. Of course you can do this any time of year but it just feels more cozy in the winter.
My favorite way to banish the winter blues is to turn up the heat and throw a tiki party! Put on a Hawaiian dress, drink pina coladas and listen to Bossa Nova. Now that is sure to tide you over for a few more months.
