Now that we are getting deeper into winter, I have the habit of longing for summer. I still enjoy the crisp edge in the air, but my heart is always pining for the sun. One way that I try to bring a little summertime into my life is by wearing flower accessories.
Like Dita, my favorite way of wearing flowers is by clipping them in my hair. I have quite an array of silk flower hair clips which I change out depending on the color of my outfit. I even wrote a post a while back on how I create the flower clips. (here)
Another way I brighten up my outfits is by pinning them to my lapel. Many years ago I worked in wholesale woman’s fashion sales and my boss gave me the most beautiful wool flower pin. To this day I still wear it on my winter coat and every time I see it I smile. It is such an easy way to add color and glamour to your ensembles.
An unexpected way to wear flower accessories is to make yourself a wrist corsage. I wore this concoction to a party at Alt Summit, which I will be attending again this year! Here is the DIY tutorial on how I made that wrist corsage. (here)
When the weather gets better and you are no longer wearing coats, you can use the same flower pins you wore in winter by pinning them to your belt.
And finally, I enjoy glamorizing a plain pair of shoes by adding flower clips. Last year I made an adorable pair of red floral shoe clips which you can see here.
So the next time you are feeling a little bit tired of the freezing winter weather, add some spring to your outfit by wearing flower accessories.
