I have a confession to make: I used to hate plaid. I know! I am shocked too! I don’t know why I disliked it so much, but I really thought it quite ugly. My opinion changed when I started to design my own line of boy’s clothing. Suddenly I found plaid to be so colorful, chic, and interesting. At one point I think almost every single fabric in a winter collection was plaid.
Even though I no longer design boys clothing, I have kept my passion for plaid. When I saw this dress on Mod Cloth (here) I gasped out loud and quickly ordered it. I think it will look good with a white collared shirt underneath it when the weather cools down. Here in Los Angeles, October can be the hottest month of the year! But eventually the heat from the desert changes to a cold fog from the ocean, and with it brings longer sleeves, fuzzy cardigans, and dare I say it- tights!
The shoes are old All Black heels in a cherry red. I find low heels to be the most comfortable shoe, so I have quite a few pairs. Though these sold out long ago, I found a different pair of red heels that I think would work just as well, and they are only $37! (here)
The necklace is from Kate Spade (similar here) and I think I got the ring at Old Navy. I swear Old Navy has the best retro looking jewelry! Next time you are there you should really check it out.
The thing I like best about this dress is it is the perfect style for the transition from summer to autumn. I can wear it right now as styled, and when the weather changes I can throw on a sweater or jacket.
So do you also like plaid? If so, is it a new acquaintance, or is it an old beloved friend?
