One Skirt Three Ways

angies sweatshop 11

If you have been following my blog for a while then you will already know my love of skirts. I think they are the perfect garment to glamorize any outfit and yet still be comfortable. I thought I would do a post on three ways to wear a skirt: retro, glamorous, and casual and I used a skirt I got from Angie’s Sweatshop (here). I contacted Angie to see if she was interested in sponsoring my blog and we came up with this idea. I thought it would be difficult to figure out three ways to wear this skirt, but I actually came up with at least five different outfits! I swear, skirts are seriously the backbone of any glamorous wardrobe.

Retro Fabulous

For this look I was attempting a sort of 1950s Italian ensemble. I thought the black top was kind of reminiscent of something Bridget Bardot would wear while shopping at her local outdoor market and it looked fabulous with the turquoise butterfly skirt (here). I cinched in my waist with a belt and threw on a pair of vintage reproduction shoes (here) which are both comfortable and lovely to look at.

Next I decided to add some color to the skirt. I paired it with a top in the most gorgeous shade of plum (similar here). I wore a pair of killer heels, and brought the whole thing together with a new necklace in rich autumnal shades (here).

Sometimes all you need to make an outfit glamorous is a great pear of shoes and a statement necklace.

Playground Causual

For my final outfit I decided a simple patterned top was perfect for a day at the park with my daughter. I like to keep things very casual when I am at the park, but casual doesn’t have to mean shlubby. A pair of comfortable flats and a blackbird necklace (similar here) finished off the outfit.

As you can see, finding different ways to wear a skirt is easier than you might think. The good news is Angie’s Sweatshop specializes in skirts! You can choose any of the fabrics provided with any of the screen graphics! I am thinking about getting this red rose skirt (here) or maybe this grey skirt with two birds (here).

  1. I totally agree that skirts are a great addition to your wardrobe. I love all three ways you styled the skirt, but especially the first. I would wear that in a heartbeat.

I really love the photo where your hair is down.

  3. Wow all three looks are so cute!!

  4. Wow. I’m totally impressed. You look beautiful in all three outfits. I can’t believe how you used that skirt so many different ways. I wish you come over and help me go through my closet.

I think my favorite look is Glamor, although I would kill myself in those heels.

pretty skirt, very pretty girl :-)
since i never wear trousers (exc. for sport) i love every kind of skirts. like you show it, they are very good for styling different looks. and if they are not to short or tight then they are very comfortable. who need trousers? ;-)

I think you look fabulous in all 3 situations. Being 5 2″ I have horrible issues finding skirts that sit at the right length for me which makes me rather sad as there are so many pretty ones about at the moment.

I am also 5 2″. Well, maybe 5 3″. I dont have “one length” that I prefer so I haven’t found this to be an issue, but you could always take your skirts to a tailor, which is what I have to do with any pant I buy.

Your little girl is such a cutie pie! I love that wild blonde hair. Also love the top in the playground pic, the neckline is so pretty! x

  8. Fantastic styling! I really love the second look. It’s great to know I’m not the only person who enjoys partnering turquoise and plumy-burgundy together. You’ve got me wishing I had a skirt in either shade now to pair with a top in the other. Something to look for while thrifting in Calgary next month! :)

Have a marvelous Labour Day weekend, gorgeous gal!
