I am so happy it is finally summer! I adore everything about it, the warm sun, going to the beach, and especially eating al fresco! Because I live in Los Angeles, we don’t really have any bugs to deal with, and due to the climate the evenings are not overly warm or humid, so summer can be the perfect time to enjoy dinner while the sun sets.
The other day I found some lovely vintage Vera napkins while out thrift shopping and was inspired by the floral print to create a daisy themed table setting. There were only four napkins in the set, and I was serving dinner for six so I added two complimentary napkins at the head and tail of the table. Didn’t it turn out pretty?
When I am having a smaller dinner I have time to be more creative with my tablescapes. I ended up spray painting some navy blue chargers a bright shade of yellow and then I combined a solid white plate with a vintage reproduction glass plate for the table setting. I finished off the look with the aforementioned Vera napkins and a baby food jar filled with daisies.
Tip: When setting a narrow table, use small bunches of flowers on each place setting to add some floral flair!
We don’t have a permanent outdoor dining table so my husband set up a folding table. Unfortunately it is quite narrow, so I only had room for a few jars of yellow flowers as the centerpieces. That is another reason I added small bouquets to the place settings.
Here you can see the set up on the porch. We just happened to already have yellow and green chairs that coordinated with the daisy table settings. Tomorrow I will post what I ended up serving for dinner, and the best part is you don’t actually have to cook any of it! It was all purchased at the grocery store and then set up on platters. So easy!
