With spring in the air and my home filled with flowers, I thought I would continue the theme to my front door. I decided to make a peony wreath using fake flowers and a Styrofoam base. It was ridiculously easy, and only took about 15 minutes to throw together.
I purchased a bunch of flowers from my local craft store, who was having a 60% off fake flowers sale! Score! I also bought the wreath base there. I used wire cutters to snip the heads off the stems leaving about 1-2 inches so I could stick the stems into the Styrofoam. For the leaves I glued half of a toothpick to the ends of the leaf stem and stuck the toothpick into the foam. I realized after I hung it that you can still see some of the edges, so I think I will buy some large width ribbon at the craft store the next time I am there and then line the edges with it.
When I was finished I hung it from my front door using fishing line.
I just adore how it turned out. And most people ask if the flowers are real!
If you end up making your own floral wreath, I would love to see a picture of it. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I adore seeing what my ladies create!
