I am currently on spring break at The Four Seasons in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is stunningly beautiful because the entire dessert is blooming. Even though I live near the ocean, my heart belongs to the dessert.
Normally we go to Hawaii with my extended family (Mom, two brothers and their families, and my sister) but this year we opted for an easier plane ride. Five hours in a plane with a toddler is precarious at best and with three of us having toddlers, we thought a one hour flight was a much better choice. One of my brothers had stayed at the Four Seasons, Scottsdale and thought it would be fun for all of us, so that is how we ended up here. Personally I adore any Four Seasons. I know they are insanely expensive, but they are also the most hospitable hotel I have ever stayed at and they exceed expectations every. single. time. Plus they are really great with children.
I’ve been to quite a few Four Seasons and they always have impeccable gardens, and the Scottsdale one is no exception. I had fun walking the grounds and taking pictures of the flowers.
Aren’t those gorgeous? So colorful.
The first morning we spent horseback riding! Yes, this glamorous housewife climbed up on horse for the first time in over 20 years! It was hilarious and so much fun!
Here I am in my helmet. I posted this on Instagram and someone mentioned I looked glamorous in a helmet! Made my day.
Of course I had to wear my vintage dessert bark cloth pastoral skirt. The cowgirls loved it!
It was kinda difficult taking pictures with my iPhone and holding onto the reins but I thought this snap showed the glory of the landscape. Note the tiny yellow flowers covering the ground.
I found this cluster of signs on the barn where the horses are kept. I think I need to have that whining sign at my home!
Besides riding horses, I spent my time at the pool. Here you can see me in my 1950s vintage lace cover up. I have it closed with the vintage brooch.
I also brought a longer dress as a cover-up. This one is more tropical. I got on eBay. The hat is from Anthropologie and I adore it, but because the brim is so big I have a hard time seeing very far when I walk.
I also thought you might enjoy the swim outfit I got for Ella. I mean did you ever? That hat! And the shoes! I couldn’t help myself. Of course she refuses to wear the cap, but it was so worth it, even if it is only for a photograph.
I have a bad habit of not remembering to take photos of my outfits when I am on vacation, but I did manage to get a snap of this vintage 1950s dress. It is new and I adore it! We are supposed to go out to a fancy dinner tonight and I might be wearing a really fun and campy 1960s cocktail dress so be sure to join me on Instagram to see a snap if I remember to take a picture.
If you happen to be in Scottsdale then I highly recommend the Four Seasons. Even if you can’t stay here the restaurants are amazing and worth it for a romantic dinner and evening stroll around the hotel.
