Today is Earth Day! I thought I would celebrate by sharing with you my ten favorite earth saving tips and tricks that I learned on Pinterest.
Did you know you don’t need to purchase those chemical laden microwave popcorn bags? You can do it yourself with just a plain paper bag, and some popcorn! Click here to find out the exact directions.
Got wasps? Here is a natural way to deter them: Slice a lemon in half and stud it with cloves and then leave outdoors. Wasps don’t like the smell and stay away! No need for chemicals.
Love cooking spray but don’t like the additives? Click here to find out how you can make it yourself!
Speaking of cooking spray, did you know if you spray the top of your guacamole with cooking spray it will stay bright green over night? Try it!
Apparently vinegar and blue Dawn will clean anything. No need for all those fancy chemical cleaners or even more expensive “all natural” cleaners!
I learned all about the power of vinegar when I used it as a last resort in my dishwasher as a rinse agent. We have really hard water and my dishes, silverware, and glasses were still grimy, foggy, and spotted after running the dishwasher. I even bought a new dishwasher because I thought the first one was broken! Turns out the acid in the vinegar changes the hard water and I haven’t had a problem since. Plus the vinegar is so much cheaper than the Jetdry I had been using. Score!
Do you have a kid’s sandbox in your backyard? Well apparently if you put in cinnamon it will keep the bugs away!
Save your eggshells and use them in the garden. Click here to find out why!
If you are planning on using some large planters, put something like milk jugs on the bottom to take up space without creating extra weight. I do the same thing with styrofoam peanuts.
Instead of using those garbage disposal beads, just cut up a lemon, put into ice cube trays, pour some vinegar over it and then freeze the whole thing. When your disposal gets stinky just pop one or two out and grind them down using hot water. Smells like lemons and keeps the chemicals out of our water.
