For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, I am a huge Kate Spade fan. I have been carrying her purses since her first collection, and when she came out with her clothing line I was thrilled, but the prices! Oh my! The good news is she has fantastic sales and will be coming out with a new line of lower priced clothing called Saturday. So I was going through her new arrivals when the adorable t-shirt seen below caught my eye.
Stripes AND bows! I had to have it. But I thought $128 for a t-shirt was steep. Then I thought to myself, “well, I can make it”.
So the next morning I was off to Old Navy where I found this t-shirt (here) for only $7.50! Then I went down the street to Michaels and bought a spool of black twill ribbon for around 6 bucks.
I used this tutorial (here) to make a few bows and then sewed them to the shirt.
Here is how the front turned out.
And here is the back.
Didn’t it turn out swell?
Obviously the neck line isn’t as wide as the original, nor does it have a 3/4 sleeve, but it is a pretty good match! Plus I saved $115 dollars! I decided to wear it with my new black circle skirt (here) and black Miss L. Fire shoes (here).
So what do you think? Any chance you might also make a Kate Spade bow shirt? If so I want pictures!
