One of the things I dislike about Hanukkah is the fact so many of the decorations are hideously ugly. Case in point:
That is a whole lot of ugly. But I like the idea of having the Star Of David as a wreath. So I ended up buying a few of these ugly wreaths and turned them into something much better looking.
I cut off all the ugly tinsel and wrapped the frame with yards and yards of yarn. And yes, it took forever! But I really like how it came out.
To add a little flair I made a felt flower and glued an old earring I had into the center. Then I attached some pom and sparkly yarn to it to look kind of like a ribbon.
For the second wreath I used the same concept of wrapping yarn around the frame, but this time I threaded the pom-pom yarn around the edges to define the shape.
I love how playful and whimsical it turned out.
