Paperwhites In Mason Jars

mason jar

The other day I was perusing Pinterest and found this adorable mason jar gift for Christmas. I thought it was a perfect DIY hostess gift, or just a little something to have on hand so if someone gave me an unexpected present I would have something to give to them in return. So I made a few and I wanted to share with you how I went about it.

Paperwhites In Mason Jars Holiday Gift DIY

First I gathered all of the components need to make these paperwhites in mason jars holiday gift. The tumbled glass, the evergreen spray, the letter stamps and stamp pad are all from Michaels. The mason jar is from the grocery store, the paperwhite bulb is from a local garden store, the gift tags are from a stationary store, and the craft string was from Etsy.

Then I filled the jar with the tumbled glass and I placed the bulb on top. I love how glittery the glass looks. Very glamorous.

Next I made the tags. I used a gold ink because I had it handy and I thought it was festive, but you can use any color you like.

The letters aren’t perfect but I like that it looks homemade! The pine spray is fake, but it has the pretty glitter that I love so much. I dont live in an area with many pine trees, but if you do then I think a real pine spray would be stunning. Or how about a little holly leaf and a few berries? This craft is easily adaptable to any style.

Next I just tied the spray to the jar along with the gift tag and voila! A gorgeous little holiday gift that would make anyone’s day a little brighter.

Eventually the bulb will grow into a beautiful flower that smells like angels. Paperwhites are one of my absolute favorite flowers because their perfume is so heavenly.

Be sure to add water to the jar so it just comes to the top of the glass. You only want the bottom of the bulb to be wet. I have the one’s I made sitting in a windowsill waiting to be given away.

Lovely as always! I’ve been working on a version of this idea as an advent garden to use as a craft for our advent brunch at church. But so true that it is nondenominational and great to have on hand I think I’ll make some extras.
