We have almost made it to the end of of fashion week here on The Glamorous Housewife. Have you been enjoying this series? I had so much fun putting it together. Last, but certainly not least, is the colorful 1960s. With the popularity of Mad Men, the shapes and styles of the 1960s are very easy to find. Think mod black and white, double breasted jackets and coats, pencil skirts, skinny pants, peter pan collars and sheath dresses.
Even though I have a retro style, I still love modern fashion. I am really excited for all the 1960s inspired shapes with a twist of modern sensibility. I have been adamantly against the skinny jean, but I think I might squeeze myself into a pair of slim capris with a trapeze jacket. And you probably already know my love of yellow, which can be found everywhere this season.
When it comes to a 1960s inspired shoe, a chunky heel is key. Other details are booties, large buttons and a rounded toe. I don’t own a single pair of ankle boots, but those blue ones are calling my name!
Big, bold, and colorful are the key words in 60s style accessories. From the round sunglasses to the bib necklaces, all are very “in” right now. If Iris Apfel would wear it, it is probably in the style of the 1960s.
And there you have it! Four decades of fall fashion awesomeness. Did you find any of it inspiring? If so, which decade? Did you see anything you had to have? I am sure you will start to spot many of these items in my wardrobe in the following weeks. Bragging rights to the first person who spots something I wear from one of these posts!
