The other night I was having a casual dinner for my new neighbors who moved here from Australia and didn’t know a single soul in Manhattan Beach. I know how difficult and lonely it can be to move from your old home to a new place, so I wanted to try and make the transition as painless as possible and I thought a nice meal would help to make them feel welcome.
If you were here last week, I linked to a party that I found inspirational. If you scroll down the photos you will see a table with an ombre floral centerpiece. I wanted to emulate that, only in my own way. So I found these gerber daisies and cut them very short. I placed them in baby food jars and small canning jars and scattered them down the middle of the table.
Then for each setting I placed a dinner napkin I got on sale from BHLDN. The napkins came in a set of 5 different fabric patterns so I used the red color way and a few from the blue collection. Considering how inexpensive gerber daisies are, as well as repurposing jars and finding the napkins on sale, this whole look was incredibly cheep! Now that I think about it, the glass plates are from Target (no longer available) and the water goblets were on sale from Anthropologie (also no longer available).
As you can see, it doesn’t take much money to create a festive table, all it takes is color, pattern, and a pinch of creativity (as well as stalking the sales racks).
