A few weeks ago I was in a kind of motivational doldrums. I am a very goal oriented person, but I didn’t seem to have any tangible goals that were creative and interesting. Oh sure, I was still having fun with the blog, but I was having a difficult time coming up with ideas to write about because I was in severe need of being inspired myself.
One of the ways I get myself out of the ennui is by forcing myself to be creative. Even if I am just going through the motions of designing, it helps jump start my imaginative motor. You can see the hilarious results here.
So I decided to do one craft a day. I thought this would really stimulate my creative juices. That lasted about 2 days. Part of the problem was time, and part of the problem was the vast amounts of crafts out there- I was having a hard time narrowing it down. And then, once I figured out what I wanted to do, I wouldn’t have all the right supplies. It can be a real motivation killer to have to run to Michaels to get one or two items.
But this led me to an idea. What if I pick one crafting project a week and then every Sunday I can post the project and the materials here. I can spend Monday picking up the needed materials and then actually do the craft on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday I can post how I did the project and how it turned out. That way we can all do a crafting project ‘together’! I can even add an app where you can upload a picture of your own craft for us all to admire! Wouldn’t that be a hoot!
Here is this week’s project:
* One (or more) glass vase(s)
* Paper: scrapbook, tissue, newspaper, old book paper, wrapping paper, etc. I think I am going to use scrapbook paper and/or pictures cut out of magazines.
* Mod Podge
* Paint brush 1″-2″ wide and flat
* Scissors: for cutting pictures out of magazines
Here are the links I am going to use for directions:

I have plenty of old glass vases (hence why I picked this project) but no mod podge, decent brush, and I am probably going to buy some scrapbook paper as well. I was thinking of doing a solid color, letting it dry, and then adding some pictures or words I cut out of magazines.
So are you inspired? Do you think you would like to join me on my crafting project? If so, let me know in the comments. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
