Have you seen the Marie Antoinette movie by Sophia Coppola? I adore it for all of its candy colored imagery. I thought it would fun to plan a party based on the movie. I think this theme is perfect for a wedding or baby shower. Can’t you just imagine a room filled with women celebrating such a wonderful event?
It turns out I wasn’t the first to have this brilliant idea. As I was looking for inspiration, I came across the lovely photo above. It was exactly what I would have planed. I adore the use of robin’s egg blue, bright and pastel pink, and the feathers in the chandelier. Stunning.
Wouldn’t these make lovely centerpieces? You could also use them as gifts for the guests of the party. Though there are many items here that can be considered ‘Shabby Chic’, the main difference is in the use of patterns. You want to stay away from large patterns with cabbage roses and stick to toile or tone on tone patterns.
Here is a little inspiration board full of goodies like plates, napkin rings, and other decor:
Most of these items are quite expensive, but you can find similar ones at Home Goods or any local thrift shop. You can also make both the floral napkin rings and the ruffled linens yourself!
Of course you have to have a new outfit to go with the party, right!
So are you inspired to have a Marie Antoinette inspired party any time soon? If so be sure to send me pictures so I can post them to my Facebook. For more party inspiration, check out my Pinterest board.
