In a few weeks my whole family is taking their annual Hawaiian vacation, so I have been doing the dreaded bathingsuit shopping. Usually I just go to my beloved Anthropologie and pick something, but this year I thought I would try and help all of my kittens find their perfect retro swimsuit. So I went through all the major stores like Kohls, Target, Boden, and some of the boutique online stores like ModCloth and Net-A-Porte to bring you the best of vintage inspired swimsuits for 2012.
Set one has a lot of really fun suits. I don’t wear bikinis anymore- after three kids the bikini ship sailed, so I tend to focus on one pieces. But the Betsy Johnson suit (bottom row, first picture) is adorable, and is perfect for a smaller busted woman. I own the Victoria Secret suit (top row, first picture) but it is too small for me. But if it did fit, it would be very sexy. The ModCloth suit (top row, second picture) is made by Esther Williams Swimsuits. If you like the cut you should click here to the store, because you can custom make your own suit, which is pretty cool. I have this suit in a red stripe, and in a solid black and I love them. However I do not like her bikinis because I find them too highwaisted and it makes even the model look dumpy.
I had to pin the Boden USA suit (top row, first picture) because Boden didn’t let me Polyvore it, and in about 5 minutes it had over 15 repins! I think this is a gorgeous suit that would be very flattering on both large and small busted women. I also think the yellow bikini is darling, along with the gingham bikini- though neither would add much support for those blessed with a large busom.
So what do you think? Are there any that spark your interest? Remember, this is just the beginning of bathingsuit season and there are many more to come- so if you don’t see anything you like I am sure there will be plenty in April and May. If any of you have specific concerns, like a large belly or are plus sized and you would like me to try and find something for you, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can put together a roundup for you as well!
